This weekend I’m undertaking the overwhelming task of moving my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to keep this blog up and running at this URL while I tinker in a development environment to perfect the new self-hosted blog. So, there may end up being a few hours (optimistically!) or a few days (gasp! I hope not) that the blog is down while I work this out. Or you may come to the blog, find that it is up, but looks odd as I play with plug-ins and the like in the new environment.
Please bear with me

Once you go wordpress you’ll never go back! Good Luck!
good luck with the move
Is .org really that much better than .com?
Congratulations and good luck on the move!
Did you use one of the hosts recommended at wordpress.org?
@Family Anatomy – Yes, I used Blue Host
@Barga
It depends on your needs. With wordpress.com, wordpress hosts your blog for you. That means that you don’t need a web host and your content sits on their servers. It is free, which is great. But it comes with restrictions around what you can do with your design, your content, your stats, etc. With wordpress.org, you only use the wordpress software, but you host the blog yourself with a host of your choice and you can do whatever you want with your blog.
