One of the victims of my migration from wordpress.com to wordpress.org was my blog roll. It was a pretty small one. I tended to link only to those blogs that really wowed me with their every post, where I felt pretty much 100% in agreement, where I learned things and was inspired.
That said, I read a lot of blogs and I know many of my loyal readers and commenters have blogs. I don’t always agree 100% with what is said on those blogs so I don’t want to call it “along the same lines” or anything like that, but I want to find a way to give back to those that are supportive of what I’m doing here by including them in a blog roll.
But I’m trying to come up with an appropriate name for that blogroll. Some options I’ve been tossing around with people include “fans” (but that would have to be opt-in obviously since I don’t want to put words in anyone’s mouth) or “friendly stalkers” (too extreme?) or “supportive readers” (too dry?).
So maybe I’ll put it out to my readers. What would you call a blog roll of my supportive followers? Would you want to be included in it?
UPDATED: Thanks for the quick feedback everyone. I loved Family Anatomy’s suggestion and have added a “Students of Parenting” blogroll page.

I think we would be willing to be collected and listed in any group you wanted to put us in be it “friendly stalkers” or “supportive readers.” I can now appreciate why you don’t want to call in “along the same lines” because sometimes they aren’t. Good brainstorming.
I still like PhDs in blogging!
“My cult following”?
I’m not actually serious about that.
What about “Like minds” or “other students in parenting”?
I use: ” People Who Read”
I like “Supportive Readers”, or you could do “Readers”…
“PhD Followers”
“Supporters”
I had the same problem when doing my blogroll. I ended up separating it into “inspirations” (people I almost entirely agreed with) and “friends” (people I knew and liked but didn’t necessarily want to “promote” as blogging about things I agreed with).
I don’t know… I don’t think it’s important for everyone to agree on every issue. There are deal breakers, of course, but I think any blogroll can include a variety of opinions that may not be shared. Supportive, stalkers and fans all seem to put other bloggers in a subordinate position, which is fun if it’s tongue-in-cheek, but if you’re really looking for a way to honour your supporters, I’d keep them on even footing with something more flattering or just neutral. I think mine are divided into Parent and Other Interesting Blogs… that way people can choose based on subject.
Birds of a Feather
Great Minds (think alike)
Thanks for the “What I’m Reading” list. Links and all-Love it!
Thanks for the input everyone! I think I’ve settled on “students of parenting” and I’ve written a little intro to the page explaining it and now I’m working on the list. If you’re a supporter and reader and want to be included, let me know!
Haha. I’m a stalker! Never thought of it like that
I like the way you’ve decided to put it. My blogroll contains lots of different opinions, but I can respect that you didn’t want to appear contradictory with your beliefs. Well done!
“friendly stalkers” sounds cool. i dont mind being included in that category coz im really a stalker but very friendly hahaha. i so love this blog!
What about ‘lovely lurkers’. I often lurk, and occassionally comment, but you are the sole Canadian rep so far on my ‘blog roll’.
