Moving Mother’s Day Post

by phdinparenting on May 10, 2009

For the past few days, I’ve been trying to think of a good idea for a Mother’s Day post. My mind has been blank.  so instead I want to share with you a fabulous post written by my friend Jennifer from Barely Knit Together. This is motherhood.

To My Daughter on Mother’s Day (Sappiness ahead, consider yourself warned)

This outpouring of love, the honesty, the writing, the emotion in this letter to her 17 year old daughter is amazing. It is a must read.

I am so very grateful for your link here! Thank you, thank you. I was almost afraid to post something like that because it’s not my usual “thing.” I am pretty sure I’m normally funny, but I wouldn’t place a bet on it or anything. :)

I think so highly of you and your writing, it means a lot to me that you did this.

I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day

I thought it was honest and sad. Since I became a mom my own mother has started admitting her wrongdoings and shortcomings as a parent and it meant so much to me that she FINALLY did. I knew I wasn’t a hot mess for no reason!
