I refused to use a cover on political grounds & just forced myself to get over the awkwardness. Nobody ever questioned me or said anything here on the west coast of Canada, & it got easier as I got both of us got better at it. Now that my little guy's nearly 17 months old, he rarely nurses when we're out. I will sometimes just offer when he's restless & getting into things just so I can get him to be still for a few minutes. I wanted to do a Green Eggs & Ham poem about all the places I've breastfed my son, but I couldn't come up with a rhyme for the best one: standing up in the viewing gallery at the British Columbia Legislature. I hadn't read it before and I love it! Fantastic! I wasn't expecting you to make it so completely real with all the pictures, but as soon as I saw them I went, "Oooh!" It just brought the whole poem around. I used to be someone who would "never nurse in public." Though I don't have any pictures, I can tell you that not only did I nurse in public, I nursed uncovered with a toddler! Isn't it amazing how experience changes us and helps us grow!
