Canada Mom Road Trip Invades Ottawa

by phdinparenting on July 1, 2009

UPDATE: Location is confirmed as St. Luke’s Park. Details below!

The Canada Moms Road Trip is coming to Ottawa! All Ottawa area bloggers and social media types and their kids are invited to a play date on Thursday, July 2nd. Come on out to meet Her Bad Mother and Mother Bumper and their kids and welcome them to Ottawa.

Here are the details:

Location: St. Luke’s Park

Address: 166 Frank, just off of Elgin (see map)

Time: 5:00pm on July 2, 2009

What to Bring: Yourself, your kids, snacks if you wish (some of us will bring shareable snacks too), sand toys or whatever else your kids might enjoy using at the playground.

Where does it go from there? I’ll be there with my kids and they’ll probably be ready for some dinner after playing. We might head out somewhere nearby to eat and others are welcome to join in if they want. We can play it by ear.

In case of rain: There is a chance that it will be raining. We will still meet at the park, but if it is really pouring and we all decide to head for cover at the Second Cup or somewhere else, I’ll update on twitter (phdinparenting) and try to drop a comment below (note:  I won’t be able to update the actual post from my phone, but I can add a comment in the comments section).

Hope you can all join us!! Please RSVP in the comments below (with your twitter id and/or blog so that can make the connection) so that we know who will be joining in.

Thanks to Shannon (@zchamu) and Lauren (@lalawawa) for helping get this underway.

@muddybootsblog *raising hand* I’ll be there! My husband and kids will be along too (on our way to a housewarming), but that’ll mean I’ll actually be able to chat while he runs herd on our kids. Is St Luke’s park the one with the little wading pool near Pure Gelato?

Related: Forget supper! Let’s just all go for crepes and gelato!

@Amy: Yes, I think that is the one! It does have a wading pool and it is not far from Pure Gelato (YUM!!!), but there are other parks in the area too. This one is corner Frank and Elgin.

I’ll be there if the weather cooperates for the park. If it has to move to the Children’s Museum though I’m out. It would just be too hard for me to get to Hull and back at that time of day.

Cool! I’ll be there with the kids since that is “our” park. Glad I found out or I would be at the park wondering who all of you were. I’ll be the one with the girl in the cupcake hat.

That’s ‘our’ park as well, and we’ll try to make it, but I have to warn everyone: I held Felix’ 1st b-day party there last Saturday, and he (and a couple other kids) came home covered in sand flea bites. It’s been a miserable week of scratching and anti-histamines.
So – be forewarned – the sand is treacherous. Tho, that said – some kids had no bites at all, so maybe it’s just when the child is really REALLY sweet. ;)
We’ll try to stop by after work/daycare, if the weather holds.

By the way – that winky face was supposed to be at the end of the [hopefully obviously] joking sentence about only sweet kids being bitten.

Would have loved to come, but 4mo goes to bed at 6:30 and we live an hour away! Next time for sure.

Okay…I’ve made a call…we’ll meet at the park.

The weather forecast for that time of day includes a sun, a cloud, and rain drops. The description says “scattered showers”. When I looked that up, it turns out it means it might be raining in some parts of the city and not in other parts.

The park is a better venue for a lot of people than the museum and also more convenient if trying to grab food or something afterward. So we’ll go with that.

Bring your umbrellas and rain coats!

If you don’t know me and are trying to find me, I’ll be wearing beige capris and a turquoise t-shirt and if it is raining I’ll have a beige umbrella too. I answer to the name of Mommy (oh yeah, and Annie too) and I’ll have a 4 year old boy and a 2 year girl with me.

See you all later!!

I’ll likely be wearing a baby and yelling, “Simon! Get back here!” or “Liam, go grab your brother!”

Can’t wait!

Felix and I will hopefully be there, tho he goes to bed pretty early, so I have to take him home and feed him first. He’s had a rough week too – with the bug bites and a fever earlier in the week too – so we’ll see how he did when I pick him up in a few minutes.
Hope to meet/see you all though! for an easy dinner and a good day.

Here’s my post with pictures from the park:

It was fun to see so many of you! Hopefully you like the pictures. Some that I’d hoped to be cute didn’t turn out. Next time I’ll check my settings BEFORE starting to shoot.
