No, her name is actually Pippi Långstrump. The creator was the Swedish (not German!) author Astrid Lindgren. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrid_Lindgren
/Karin from Sweden

Karin:

Yes, I know that she is Swedish. As is Michel aus Lönneberga. My kids watch the stories in German though.

And my American boyfriend and I have been reading Ronia the Robber’s daughter (Ronja Rövardotter) in English and enjoyed it a lot.

Michael is Emil in Swedish.

Pippi on the shirt is the oe who played Pippi in the Swedish movies about her! :)

Astrid Lindgren and her boks are much beloved in Sweden!

I loved the Pippi books (and movies) as a kid! :D I’m hoping I can get my son to read them, when he’s older.

I had forgotten all about Pippi until I saw this. I used to love her. I’ll have to be sure to pick up some books. I have a feeling my kids are still a little young for Pippi, but I’d like to read them again.

I like the double Pippi’s.

Anne & Laura:

I got the shirt in a small boutique in Berlin. If you are/plan to be there, e-mail me and I’ll send you the exact details.
