About this Blog
I’m working on my proverbial PhD in Parenting. As someone that has spent a lot of years in a classroom, I learned that sometimes I need to take notes and explain things to others before I can truly master them. I spend a lot of time thinking about and reading about things that will help me to be a better parent, so I decided to start writing about it to with the hopes that more of it will sink in.
Maybe my blog will help others along the way too. Perhaps someone else that is struggling with an issue will read something I wrote and take something away from it. Maybe my husband will read the book reviews since I can’t convince him to read the books. Maybe family and friends will read it and get a better understanding for why we parent the way that we do. Maybe no one will read it, in which case it will just act as my own study guide.
If you feel moved to comment or ask questions, by all means jump in. I enjoy a good conversation. However, I would ask that you be respectful of who I am and my parenting philosophy in doing so.

I’m in the same boat in regards to DH reading any resources I’ve come across, parenting, homeschooling, or otherwise. *sigh*
I found your blog by googling ‘cry it out’ to add to a list I snagged off of one website to post to a local mom’s forum. I haven’t meandered through everything, but I’ve bookmarked and plan to be back.
Might I suggest looking into Gordon Neufeld as well? He’s one of several that I wish I could file copy their brain and upload it into my own. *lol* Big on the attachment within the family.
Thanks for stopping by! I own Hold on to Your Kids (Neufeld) and it is on my planned reading list. Probably next up once I finish Playful Parenting (Lawrence Cohen), which I would also highly recommend.
Hold onto your kids and Playful Parenting are by far two of the best parenting books I have ever read!
Your blog is a real treasure. Thanks for sharing
I’m not sure why it took me so long to get over here and read your blog, but I’ve now got you in my feed reader
Great stuff.
I’ve been following you on Twitter, but somehow never clicked through to here. My bad.
Anyway, kudos for a great site, and howdy from an AP dad!
Cheers-
Derek
I just read (well looked at) your post about school and homeschool and I love it! I feel exactly the same way! I came to this blog by way of a link to your 50 reasons for breastfeeding anytime anywhere article. (I’m no longer breastfeeding but stay active in some online groups to offer support.) My son is in public school and I wish I could be home and we could practice “unschooling.” I am going to have to read your stuff more often.
After meeting you on Wednesday evening, my sister is now reading your blog, both new and old entries. Love your blog and site.
