Anissa

My blogging friend Anissa from #FreeAnissa had a stroke yesterday and is now in the ICU. The thing about the blogging community is that it brings us so close together and yet when something like this happens, I feel so far away.  Anissa was one of the first bloggers whose writing really inspired me.  So my little way of bringing me and bringing you closer to her, is to share the first post of hers that brought me to tears.

A letter of apology to my kids

Dear Nathaniel and Rachael,

Although many, if not most, of the things I’m going to talk about here were far beyond our control, our ability to do differently and no one’s fault, I feel the need to address them.

I’m sorry your sister got cancer.  I’m sorry for what this meant for the past years of your lives.  I’m sorry your childhood was marred by the knowledge of cancer, chemotherapy and loss.  I’m sorry for the time that can never be regained and the innocence forever gone.  I’m sorry for all of us, but especially you. Keep reading...

If you want to help Anissa's family or are looking for updates on how she is doing, Aiming Low is probably the best place to check.

Hang in there Anissa! Be strong. We're all thinking of you.

I did not really know Anissa or her blog prior to this week, but I have enjoyed reading the various posts people have been linking too. I see how what a gifted writer and strong woman and loving mother she is. I pray that she is able to recover soon and that her family, friends, and fellow blogger friends are comforted.

[...] but I just love reading the messages and thoughts that others want to share with their kids, like Anissa’s letter of apology to her kids that I featured recently. Today I came across a wonderful letter and wanted to share it with you. So my featured post today [...]
