I haven’t looked at their nutritional content but how bad are the President’s Choice Blue Menu items? I’ve seen commercials about how they are the official sponsors of the Canadian Alpine team…could this be another example of healthier food sponsorship or just another McD’s wrapped up in “healthy” jargon?

I’ve spent a lot of time looking at the labels of their blue line menu items. Most of them are better than the regular menu items. However, it doesn’t mean they are better than homemade fresh food. So, if I have to buy storebought I would buy the Loblaws Blue Line over other stuff, but I still do check labels all the time.

I meant more along the lines of Amanda’s comment. I might choose Ronald McDonald as a role model instead.
As a Canadian, I’d never heard of him until someone pointed me to the video.

Oh my gosh, just when I thought I couldn’t love Bode Miller any more than I have since I found out we both named our daughters Dacey . . . now this?! *big sigh* He is QUITE the young man.
I like Bode Miller just as much as the next person, he’s a fun personality to follow. But as far as an example for my kids, I think I’ll pass. His drunk skiing episodes are somewhat famous here in the US. Good on him for promoting good food however.
so are these really olympic sponsors and ads? i’ve been disgusted by the coke & mcdonald ads too.

Yes – they are real sponsors. The Egg Farmers one is an actual ad. I’m not sure whether the Organic/Stonyfield one is an ad or just a promotional video that they created for the web.
i guess what i really meant was are these ads actually playing anywhere? i haven’t seen them in the U.S., but i have seen a whole lot of mcd’s and coke.
Cool! I did not know that Bode Miller grew up a vegetarian and owned an organic farm. Stonyfield and Bode Miller do seem to have a strong connection because this video is featured on their own channel called “YoTube”. I think the pitch is perfect – but one unintended message of this type of promotion maybe that only “crazies” get into organic food! It needs a more mainstream positioning in my opinion.
Ha! Told you: hockey players and protein. If a hockey player does a McDonald’s ad go ahead and call bullshit.
