Remember a while ago, I asked you about the trials and tribulations of toddlers? And boy did you answer (118 comments!). I heard about:
- lack of impulse control
- whining or screaming (unpredictable, uncontrollable, illogical screaming is what one reader described it as)
- bedtime issues
- constant nursing/demands to nurse all the time (especially nighttime nursing)
- perceived manipulation
- getting dressed/out the door without major battles
- leaving somewhere (park, friend’s house) without major battles
- eating (being picky, refusing to stay at table, throwing food)
- hitting, biting and throwing things
- clinging
- destructiveness (can’t have nice things)
- stubbornness
I asked you about your toddler challenges because I was planning something special. The time has come. I’m thrilled to announce the PhD in Parenting Carnival of Toddlers. Over the next couple of weeks, my blog will be focusing on parenting toddlers and will include posts from me, a few guest posts, lists of resources, and even a video.
The Carnival of Toddlers is going to have four themes:
- Toddler Discipline
- Toddler Fun
- Toddler Food
- Toddler Survival
I’d like your help. If you want to be part of the Carnival of Toddlers, you can:
- Suggest resources (posts, articles, books, etc.) that you like on any of those themes. Suggest Resources Here (submit by end of day on December 15, 2011).
- Write a post on one of these topics and submit it for consideration (to be linked to) in the Toddler Carnival (link back to this post in your post). Submit a Link to Your Post Here (submit by end of day on December 15, 2011).
I can’t wait to share my ideas, my guest bloggers’ ideas, and all of YOUR ideas with my readers. Grab your toddlers and let’s go for a ride on the carrousel! If you’re wondering what a carnival is all about, check out the wrap-up post from my Carnival of Play a few years ago.
Please Welcome the Amazing Sponsor of the Toddler Carnival

I’m so excited, I may have a toddler-like reaction to this news (some out-of-control screaming and throwing myself all over the room, then biting my mother in glee, maybe? And demanding “MORE! MORE!”).
Love this idea!!
After an exhausting morning with my soon-to-be two-year-old, this is very welcome news! I look forward to your insights, and those of your guest bloggers.
Ooooh I can’t wait!! (Says the mom who needs help with her toddler).
Mine just turned three – not sure if that still counts as a toddler or not (his behavior certainly no longer seems to go along with the cute word “toddler”), but I certainly need some help so I’ll be checking in often.
YES! I would love to submit:) hope I can figure this out…as I’ve never participated in one of these! thanks for posting!
Just write a post on your blog, link back here, and fill out the form that I linked to so that I’m aware of your post.
This sounds fantastic!
Great idea, Annie!
Perfect timing! As I just realized these past couple of weeks that I am not longer the parent of a baby, but a full fledged toddler!
It seems like in the past when I’ve seen these carnival postings there was a huge link to all the various posts. Is this not happening? I could REALLY go for some encouragement on the 20 month old ALL NIGHT NURSER :/
Hi Michelle,
My Carnivals are a bit different than others. Most are just one day and everyone links to everyone else on that same day. Mine run over a few weeks and I include a mix of my original posts, guest posts and link-ups to other posts/resources. The link-ups will be coming soon and will include resources on nursing and sleep issues.
Stay tuned!
Annie
