IComLeavWe: Day 5

This is day five of IComLeavWe on speed. As I make my way through over 100 blogs this week, reconnecting and leaving comments, I hope to feature a couple of posts each day and also list the posts that I commented on.

Featured post - Letters to our children

I love it when people write letters to their kids on their blog. I've only managed it once so far, on the occasion of Julian's 4th birthday, but I just love reading the messages and thoughts that others want to share with their kids, like Anissa's letter of apology to her kids that I featured recently. Today I came across a wonderful letter and wanted to share it with you. So my featured post today is Oh, you dear, sweet thing from the Naptime Writing blog.

The letter starts out:
Dear little person:

I am so sorry that the world feels out of your control. I’m sorry it’s so tough to be small.

I’m sorry that people will minimize your frustrations by saying “it’ll only get worse.”

And I’m sorry that it will. Only get worse.

The letter goes on to talk about everything from adventure to societal pressures to donuts to feelings. It ends with thoughts on the burden and gift of a sibling. Go read. You'll nod. You'll cry. You'll empathize with the child. You'll empathize with the mother. It is truly a beautiful letter.
