"While you were out": Emma and Julian's redecorated rooms

Over the weekend I sent my family away and redecorated their rooms. Until now, Julian has had his own room and Emma has slept with us. We moved Julian into a new bed and a bunch of other new furniture in what used to be the guest room and moved Emma into his old room. The kids both got to choose the paint colours for their rooms and then I added some design surprises for them. There are still some finishing touches missing and we have to move a lot of their stuff back into the rooms, but I thought I would share some pictures before the rooms get too lived in.

Emma's Room

Emma wanted a purple/pink theme for her room. She had picked out some flower pictures from Ikea (in the second pic) and I matched the paint colour by going a few shades lighter than those. I then picked other items for the decor of the rest of the room. There is a green chest of drawers (second hand from my mom's place) still missing from the room (will go under the big flower pics) and otherwise the room uses mostly Julian's old furniture with new decorations.

Julian's Room

We were almost starting from scratch here because we didn't really have furniture for a second kids' room. We got a bunk bed and a desk and picked up a few sets of bookcases second hand from @sassymonkey. I incorporated some of his old favourites into the design (dinosaur poster, painting from Havana, etc.) and added some pirate themed stickers and art work.

Ha. That last picture of Julian is my favorite! They must both love their new rooms. I got a kick out of Emma's bottom heavy book shelf.

They are both bottom-heavy for now, but securely fastened to the wall. Using the bottom shelves makes it easier for little people to get their own books out. All of the books used to be on one (very full) book shelf and now that they have been split, we are facing the squabbles of "That's not Julian's book, that's MY book". Sigh.

So that's why you needed the pirate decals! Awesome makeover! It has inspired me to hurry up and get my son's room done!

I'm having a combination déjà vu and OMG! We've cycled through several of your furniture and design items. :) I hope Miss E loves the leaf as much as my girls did. I love the sticker you have of the swinging girl on the wall. The last picture of Julian is priceless!

@Tiph: Thanks! I didn't make it though (not that talented). It is a duvet cover and I got it at JYSK.
