Help Best for Babes win $20,000 or more with your vote on facebook

The Best for Babes Foundation has a very good chance to win $20,000 through the CHASE Community Giving Program if they can hold on to their spot in the top 200.  Voting is expected to heat up in the next 3 days until the contest closes, so if you are on facebook I am hoping you will help out by voting and posting the link on your page, encouraging your friends to vote, and doing anything else you can think of to help out.

For a small non-profit like Best for Babes, $20,000 is a big deal that would allow them to do a lot more of the incredibly important work that they do.

I voted for Best for Babes because they are:

  • Cheering on all moms, breastfeeding OR NOT, to make informed feeding decisions and succeed without judgment, pressure or guilt.

  • Putting pressure on the booby traps, not moms, so that more moms can achieve their personal breastfeeding goals, whether that is to breastfeed for 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years!

  • Raising awareness of the WHO-Code and how violations of it hurt both breastfeeding and formula-feeding moms

  • Interviewing celebrities like Gossip Girl actress Kelly Rutherford for their breastfeeding stories within an evidence-based context

  • Attracting moms on the fence about breastfeeding with positive images, information and resources

  • Boosting & complementing the efforts of the entire breastfeeding movement, including the United States Breastfeeding Committee, the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, Baby-Friendly Hospitals, and many more

  • Funded entirely by WHO-Code compliant sponsorships - all individual donations go directly towards education & outreach

  • Educating & influencing the media (CBS, Fit Pregnancy, People.com, USA Today, etc.)

  • Building the "mother of all causes" through grassroots and social media to restore the cure under our nose (literally) to it's rightful place among highly visible disease foundations like Komen, American Heart Association, Juvenile Diabetes foundation because breastfeeding lowers the risk of all those diseases and many more, plus it reduces the burden on the environment!

  • Finally, they are the only non-profit that is running a gorgeous, clever & funny ad campaign (see below) that has the potential to reach millions of moms . . . with the CHASE community giving grant, they can leverage donated media space and run the campaign on billboards across the country for a fraction of the regular cost, and get more celebrity interviews that will put this issue on the map of the media and the mainstream in a positive and game-changing way.

I don't usually promote contests on my blog but as my readers know, I am a big supporter of the work that Best for Babes does and I feel very strongly about helping them get this money. So I hope you will join me in clicking on the link and sharing it with your friends. If enough people vote, it is possible that we could catapult them into the top 5 for $100,000 or first place for $250,000.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for your post that I am sure will reach huge numbers! I created a short youtube video of the "Booby Traps"(TM) that Best for Babes is minimizing for moms. Best for Babes approved it, noting "...great ...to help people understand what we do." Please feel free to share link or embed video itself in posts to help internet users everywhere learn about Best for Babes (internet users love video!) and to inspire people everywhere to vote for Best for Babes! The video is posted here at http://breastfeedingwithcomfortandjoy.blogspot.com where you can click on video to view on youtube and embed youtube video itself wherever you think it would be helpful.

Good! BfB is great and deserves votes! You can vote for them twice if you get and swap 'gift' votes with a friend. You get a gift vote after voting for 5 charities, and Mom's Breastaurant, another great breastfeeding-friendly charity, could also use your votes. Vote for BfB, Mom's Breastaurant, and 3 other charities and get your gift vote. Swap it with someone else (you can't vote your own gift vote) and you can each vote for BfB again!
