Nada como mamá, nada como mamar (Nothing like mom, nothing like breastfeeding)

Time for some more beautiful breastfeeding imagery. Check out this great Spanish promo spot about breastfeeding (thank you to Sarah Wildman for pointing it out to me).

If you don't understand Spanish and want a translation of the text, go and check out the translation posted at the Motherwear Breastfeeding Blog.

Fabulous ad! Gorgeous imagery! I love how the the men in the ad played an important supporting role. Of interest, when I went to view the video at YouTube, I got this warning "This video or group may contain content that is inappropriate for some users, as flagged by YouTube's user community." So disappointing that people still perceive images of breasts in the context of breastfeeding "inappropriate".

I love the term mamar. It's not just breast feeding. It also means mothering. Even to the degree of "spoiling".

When I clicked on this I thought you'd written a post entirely in Spanish! Ha ha! Leave it to the Europeans to be able to broadcast such a beautiful commercial. We could soooo learn something from their openness!

@Melodie: The funny thing is that I have travelled extensively in Spain and http://www.phdinparenting.com/2008/05/29/attachment-parenting-has-not-caught-on-in-france/" rel="nofollow">France and rarely saw any women breastfeeding there. Yes, they are more open about nudity and the human body in general, but they still do have a long way to go in promoting breastfeeding as normal and appropriate in public. I hope this video goes a long way towards doing that.

Great video! I also loved that the men (presumably the dads) were involved and had speaking roles.

*does a little dance* I love that they weren't "modest" either. As someone who almost exclusively pulled my shirt down in the early months, I *adore* that.

Thanks for sharing!

I always like adding a new verb to my vocab. We never learned "mamar" in HS or college.

I loved that! Loved hearing Castillian again.

When I was in France I too never saw anyone else nurse. Nor in London. That was a fabulous promo. Hope it turns some hearts !

That is exactly the kind of imagery we need. Just casually nursing a baby without worrying about being "discreet" (whatever that means). But also not connected with a big political campaign full of lactivists who have been depicted (like it or not) in ways that tend to put some people off.
I love, love, love this!

So sweet - especially with the Dads there supporting the Moms - thanks for sharing!
